The service, neatly integrated with other MSN services, will allow internet users to enter details of personal items into an intelligently designed database.

The product specification can then be made searchable by the Microsoft search engine or a prescribed group of personal contacts. The end result is direct communication between the internet user and the respective sellers, companies or organizers through the service.

Microsoft is expected to rollout the service within the next few weeks. The news is indicative of the shift in the classified ads business from the traditional printed medium to the online medium.

Although Microsoft is entering into an existing market, with competitors such as search engine giant, Google, having already established similar online listings services, the company recognizes the move as a valuable extension to its existing online services.
