According to reports, research into the proposed genetic credit card is being conducted by a team of Israeli scientists from Technion’s Rappaport Faculty of Medicine and Carmel Medical Centre in Haifa.

The team are said to be working on the creation of a card that stores a patient’s entire genetic make-up and can be swiped on a computer to allow doctors to decide upon appropriate treatment and dosage.

Though the UK’s Royal Society last year expressed the view that personalized drugs were not likely to materialize in the near future, the Israeli scientists are reportedly optimistic that a genetic credit card would significantly facilitate the development of personalized treatment.
