The CEO and co-founder of Huddle has resigned after nine years in the role, amid a renewed push for growth by the file-sharing firm into the cloud collaboration market.

Alastair Mitchell, who founded Huddle in 2006, is stepping down to take the roles of president and CMO and will be replaced by the former CEO of MACH Morten Brøgger.

Brøgger, who has held former leadership roles at Sunrise Switzerland, TDC Denmark and ATEA, will be based in San Francisco to focus on driving Huddle’s growth strategy and expansion into new markets.

"As Huddle starts on the next phase of its journey, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to bring someone of Morten’s caliber on board to strengthen the already exceptional team we’ve built," said Mitchell.

Morten has a proven ability to drive significant innovation and growth, and deliver results. His skills and experience will enable us to capitalize on the incredible position we have built as a pioneer and leader in the cloud collaboration space over the past years and continue to grow exponentially.

The turnaround comes after the company, co-headquartered in London and San Francisco, raised $51m in funding for acquisitions and new talent in December last year.

"Rather than focus on simple file synchronisation and sharing, which is now a low value commodity, Huddle has differentiated itself by focusing on collaboration and solving the real issue faced by enterprises: working together effectively," said Brøgger.
