The Dutch company’s impressive achievement was revealed by Paul Beverly, president Americas for Axalto. US financial institutions are leading the move to contactless payment cards, Mr Beverly said.
He added: Axalto is committed to helping these institutions put a contactless card in the hand of each consumer to bring payments into a future that is faster and more convenient.
Axalto will be supplying the MasterCard PayPass system enabled cards to a number of leading US banking organizations from its production facilities in Maryland in the US and in Orleans in France.
On a global scale Axalto has the capacity to ship over 70 million smart banking cards per year.
