Notably, the new RFID Anywhere Appliance Edition provide secure access to the management functions of an RFID reader in accordance with network authentication policies such as LDAP and Active Directory.

This promises secure remote management and upgrade abilities, to reduce downtime for reader configurations. It also enables on-device logic in order to filter data generated by the reader and reduce network volume.

Dublin, California-based iAnywhere, which is a subsidiary of Sybase Inc, said the software means better device performance and lower operating costs for enterprises deploying RFID.

The product supports communication protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP(S), GPIO, and EPC reader protocol 1.1. It’s also been designed to work with iAnywhere’s RFID Anywhere 2.0 management software.

Applied Wireless Identifications Inc said it was using the new Appliance Edition to develop a new line of low-cost readers, called MPR 3014 CE, which are slated for release this quarter.
