The products are the result of a development initiative that began in 2001, and IBM now has 147 self-managing autonomic features in 75 separate products.

The new software includes a product for online applications management, another to identify and fix Internet traffic problems, and a power outage and automation product for multiple platforms and operating systems.

According to an IBM release, these self-managing applications will help free IT departments from the time-consuming task of detecting system failures.
