The new system will combine 150 IBM eServers with Volvo’s existing eServer xSeries 335 and eServer pSeries 655 platforms to produce a fast Linux cluster for the automotive industry. This will serve as the backbone to Volvo’s automobile production to determine vehicle simulation testing efforts, and will also allow engineers to collaborate on a worldwide platform to maintain safety standards.
In 2002, Volvo announced the first Linux cluster from IBM in the automotive industry. The new High Performance Computing (HPC) environment assisted the carmaker in advancing its automotive design and innovation.
