Following the abandonment of the last phase of testing of the National Firearms Database Management System (NFLMS), it looks as though efforts to link the system with the Police National Computer (PNC) will be given up altogether and the NFLMS will simply be launched as a stand-alone system.

Computing reported that the system supplier, Anite, refused to discuss the technical problems that had been encountered. However, according to Computing, The Police IT Organisation’s (Pito) ambition is for the database to be moved to the PNC once the two systems are interfaced.
