Jabber’s Extensible Communication Platform (XCP) is built on the IEFTF-approved XMPP (extensible messaging and presence protocol) instant messaging standard. The company claims there are ten million users of XMPP worldwide today.
San Jose, California-based WebEx is a market leader in Web conferencing software.
Both companies are eyeing lucrative joint and cross-sell opportunities in the near-term.
