According to the new contract, Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) will provide a team of expert health professionals to support The Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS) in the development and management of Medicaid programs for children and families.

RIte Care is Rhode Island’s health insurance program for eligible low-income children and families. It provides comprehensive health care, with a focus on primary and preventative care, through participating health plans. ACS will provide services in support of RIte care including program design, development and implementation planning, program startup and stabilization, delivery system operations and management, quality improvement, and program oversight and monitoring.

ACS has had a four-year relationship with DHS and uses an integrated staffing model – one that has ACS staff working side by side with the state staff on a daily basis and in all aspects of program activities.

Across the US, ACS currently supports approximately 18 million program recipients and processes over 450 million Medicaid healthcare claims annually, representing more than $42 billion in provider payments. As a government program pharmacy benefits administrator, ACS serves 20 programs in 17 states with drug expenditures totaling over $13 billion.
