The size of a shoebox, the system will be iPod and iPod nano compatible. Featuring an inbuilt universal dock where the iPod sits, the system allows the user to listen to digital music and control playback from anywhere in the room via the Apple infrared remote control.
In a release Apple said, Unlike any other speaker system designed for the iPod, iPod Hi-Fi delivers breathtaking acoustic performance and room-filling sound in an innovative, all-in-one design that can be powered from a wall socket or by six D-cell batteries.
Apple says the iPod Hi-Fi system will be priced at $349.
