The former South Africa coach Nick Mallett has teamed up with Accenture to unearth deeper insights for rugby fans during the upcoming Six Nations ruby tournament.

Accenture, the official partner of the RBS Six Nations, is working with Mallett and its own team of rugby analysts to provide analysis on nearly two million rows of data during every Six Nations rugby match this year.

Mallet, who led Italy as head coach during four RBS Six Nations Championships and the 2011 Rugby World Cup, will contribute by drawing on his own experience and insights.

Nick Millman, Accenture’s MD of big data and analytics, says the aim of the analysis team is to give fans insights they wouldn’t have had before.

He said: "Working with Nick Mallet, the analysis team will examine nearly two million rows of data per game to provide a deeper understanding of the match, player performance and game-changing moments than ever before."

"The combination of the highest quality data, innovative analytics and one of the best minds in rugby can change how fans view the game."

The data insights will be published via the Accenture Twitter feed, @AccentureRugby, and available to download from the official RBS Six Nations App.

Mallet added: "The level of data insight Accenture’s analysis team will be looking to produce for fans during this year’s tournament is normally only available to international coaches."

"I believe the combination of the smartest analysts, Accenture’s analytics tools and indexes, and a layer of human insight will give rugby fans a glimpse of the real reasons behind game-changing moments on the pitch."

"I’m excited to be part of this insight curation with Accenture to further improve the RBS6N fan experience."
