TI has broadened its RFID line to include new tracking, memory and authentication capabilities, which it said would expand potential market applications for the technology.
Customers can now build in the level of memory and data functionality and protection they need, said TI RFID product marketing manager Ulrich Denk.
The company has added two new tag inlays: the Tag-it HF-I Standard that boasts 256 bits of memory, and the Tag-it HF-I Pro with password protection. The latter is available with either 256 bits or 2 kilobits of memory.
Companies can choose the level of security needed for an RFID application, including a unique ID, a user-programmed password lock with decommissioning or kill functionality and a combination of RFID with PKI, or public-key-infrastructure.
The new inlays are available in configurations for use with paper, PVC and other substrate RFID tag materials. Applications include product and asset-tracking visibility, pharmaceutical supply chain authentication, library management, event and venue ticketing, and laundry and textile rental tracking.
