Specifically, Tivoli Workload Scheduler used for batch jobs is adding to its support of distributed systems with declarative capabilities that provide higher-level supplements to the traditional writing of batch scripts (which still execute under the covers).

It allows you to use structured documents with metadata that can automatically trigger batch jobs on mainframe and distributed targets.

Additionally, Tivoli Workload Scheduler adds the ability to trigger jobs that are executed on compute grids.

Other Tivoli products enhanced for the mainframe platform include Tivoli Federated Identity manager, which allow you to invoke the security and access control practices of the mainframe over federated identity environments.

Finally, Tivoli’s Composite Application Manager (also known as Tivoli ITCAM), which diagnoses problems in web-based composite applications, is being extended to the mainframe platform.
