The Emeryville, California-based software vendor has a long-running relationship with HP that dates back to early 2002 when it signed reseller agreements with both Compaq and HP. The relationship was reconfirmed following Palo Alto, California-based HP’s acquisition of Compaq and has now been further strengthened.

The new agreement sees Sendmail’s message management products, including Mailstream Manager for content and message security and Mailcenter for storage and access, offered by HP’s services and consulting group as well as HP resellers.

While that is an extension of an existing agreement, the anti-spam part of the deal brings to market a new product for protecting against unwanted email messages on HP ProLiant servers running Linux as well as Microsoft Corp’s Windows.

The imaginatively named Anti-Spam Solution is based on Sendmail’s Mailstream Anti-spam Solution and is available on two- or four-way HP ProLiant servers. It is available now from HP and its resellers in North America and Europe for servers running Linux, and will also be available for servers running Windows in the third quarter.

The combined solution includes Sendmail Flow Control to protect networks from denial of service attacks as well as Sendmail Switch for secure remote routing management, Sendmail Intelligent Inbox for personal delivery filters, and Sendmail Anti-spam Engine for spam detection.

The solution also comes with HP Care Pack options for the ProLiant servers, and web support from Sendmail and is available on HP’s ProLiant DL580 G2 four-way server as well as the two-way ProLiant DL380 G3.
