Alongside the Windows 10 release, Microsoft unveiled the HoloLens headset that will allow users to see and manipulate 3D holograms.

Microsoft HoloLens is a headset that looks similar to other popular VR headsets, consisting of a transparent lens and advanced sensors which will blend holograms with physical places, spaces, and things.

Enabled by Windows 10, the Lightweight and adjustable headset also consists of built-in spatial sound which will enable users to hear holograms.

The new technology will map the spaces and integrate the holograms with the living space. With the headset, different types of objects can be created using gestures, eye movements, and voice commands.

In its blog the company demonstrated the HoloLens by showing users playing video games that were integrated into the room, Skype videos appearing on walls, and creation of 3D models in the living space.

Scientists at NASA are also expected to work with the kit and explore Mars using holograms.
