Central DuPage Hospital recently invested in a patient-monitoring system for its cardiology unit that can send critical patient data directly to an attending nurse’s IP phone.

As a result, the hospital says, caregivers immediately receive information that helps them gain insight into a patient’s condition, and they can respond more rapidly to critical patient health events.

Cisco Systems says it collaborated with Philips Medical Systems and Emergin, a plug n’play integration company, to create an application that takes advantage of the hospital’s existing Cisco Medical-Grade Network and addresses the goals of Central DuPage’s cardiology team.

Dr David Cooke at Central DuPage Hospital said, The technology incorporated into this wireless IP phone enables nurses to receive real time alerts reliably. The capability means our nurses can make an assessment more quickly than ever before and determine the best intervention.
