The technology is designed to meet the new Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) mandate, which requires that all unclassified wireless transmission must be encrypted with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 Level 2 certified hardware utilizing the AES encryption algorithm.
Thales and Terabeam said they each have deployments within the federal government and their alliance is expected to facilitate an accelerated deployment of secure wireless solutions within DoD agencies by enabling the use of lower-cost commercial encrypted communication products.
Terabeam’s products have a rich history of deployment within the federal government and state and local governments for a broad range of applications, and security is a critical concern for this part of our customer base, said Robert Fitzgerald, Terabeam Wireless’ CEO. The Thales Datacryptor is a powerful complement to our products – together we can deliver high-performance wireless networks with security to match.
