ARS said the Broadcom-powered WiFi tag could track assets within an enterprises’ WiFi network and would have several years of battery life.

The 802.11.b/g-enabled device would be low-cost and would be interoperable with all WiFi systems, according to US-based ARS.

The tags would operate at frequencies of 433.92 MHz and 2.45 GHz, and would feature a ‘silent’ function so they could remain operational during military field or aircraft transit.
