Denic said it will help internationalize the generic domain registry market and make it more competitive. Its non-profit status allows the organization to invest more money in its infrastructure, improving the stability, the outfit recently told ComputerWire.
The Internet Corp for Assigned Names and Numbers, ICANN, is accepting proposals beginning November 29. VeriSign will bid, as will Afilias Ltd (.info) and NeuLevel LLC (.biz). A decision will be made early next year.
