Colt Telecommunications France has already deployed 400 servers with Raleigh, North Carolina-based Red Hat’s Enterprise Linux distribution and is expected to configure another 300 servers with the operating system before the end of the year, half of them for new clients.
The servers are being used to deliver core applications for Colt’s hosting customers, while the company is also using the Satellite Server implementation of the Red Hat Network management and update service to keep the servers up to date.
The ability to update and patch servers and applications on a regular basis was key to Colt’s choice of Red Hat, according to the company, as well as support for Oracle software.
