The award is part of the county’s expansion of the mobile data technology to address recommendations from the Department of Homeland Security to share criminal information regionally and across agencies.
With the addition of the BIO-key handheld units, the detectives and undercover officers will have access to silent communication and secure criminal justice information, said Dan Collis, Belknap County Sheriff. This will increase their safety and the safety of the communities they serve.
He added that the fingerprint biometric login supplied by BIO-key will enhance the Belknap’s existing password system.
