The enhanced Trend Micro Anti-Spyware solution will block any grayware application or file, which while not classified as a virus or Trojan, can still negatively affect the performance of PC networks and introduce security, confidentiality, and legal risks. This includes all manner of spyware, adware, dialers, joke programs, hacking tools, remote-access tools, and password-cracking applications.
The vendor said the system is designed to operate alongside various antivirus and security software, and can be used alone or as part of a layered defense strategy at multiple points in the network. It will automatically discover any unprotected PCs on the network and install in a way that is transparent to end users. Pricing starts at $17.50 per 100 users.
The product includes a feature known as CWShredder, a tool against the insidious and virus-like CoolWebSearch web browsing hijacker program and the many variants that come with it.
