New features of the software include increased levels of automation and Active Directory integration, as well as reporting, so administrators can measure levels of knowledge among staff before and after training.

A lot of customers want to measure security awareness before doing any kind of awareness program, they want to be able to show return on investment, said Mac McLellan, regional education manager at Symantec.

The system is modular, allowing customers to tailor programs to the needs of their users, McLellan said. Available topics include email security, passwords, social engineering and clean desk awareness, he said.

The courses now also now come with Continuing Professional Education (CPE) certifications. Users get a half-credit per module, McLellan said. It’s nice for people to get some kind of recognition.
