Revenue rose to $368.8m, up 21% from $304.2m a year ago, and earnings climbed 14% to 20m, or 53 cents per share. Wall Street had forecast revenue of $362.3m and EPS of 47 cents, according to a Thomson Financial survey. Anteon upped its full-year 2005 revenue guidance to between $1.46bn and $1.49bn, with EPS of at least $2.01.

Notable signings during the quarter included Anteon’s $100m integration deal with the Air Force Research Laboratory, a $33m contract to support the Navy’s combat systems acquisition, and a $27m booking for training and simulation for the Naval Air Systems Command.

Fellow federal IT vendor ManTech International Corp also reported higher quarterly profits, boosted by national security contracts and its acquisition of intelligence contractor Gray Hawk Systems. Earnings came in at $10.1m, compared with a loss of $5.2m a year ago. Revenue rose 17% to $239.4m from $205.1m, with EPS of 35 cents per share. A Reuters Estimate survey of analysts predicted revenue of $341.5m and EPS of 34 cents per share.

ManTech also upped its guidance for the third quarter and the full year, including a 2005 annual revenue forecast of between $985m and $1bn.

Elsewhere in the federal sector, L-3 Communications on Tuesday reported strong earnings, as did defense giant Lockheed Martin. Northrop Grumman is scheduled to report its second quarter results today.
