OEM deals are planned during the next 18 months, the company told ComputerWire, potentially enabling partners to license or embed Segue’s suite.
Segue’s suite of tools target the quality and performance management segment of the application lifecycle management (ALM) chain, now being promoted under the recently launched software quality optimization (SQO) strategy.
Under the company’s existing approach to partnering, Segue’s tools integrate with development and platforms from some of the industry’s biggest names. Segue’s has relationships with Borland Software, BMC Software, PeopleSoft, Oracle and Siebel Systems.
However, Segue’s decision to target integrated development environment (IDE) vendors, SIs and network management vendors through a set of OEM deals represents an attempt to grow the business among end-user developers.
We see it as an opportunity to penetrate the market with vendors who are looking to add Q/A tools into their portfolio, Segue’s chief marketing officer Andre Pino said.
It’s a growth strategy for the company. It’s something we are pushing into very aggressively to increase the foot print, vice president of channels and alliances Rohit Gupta said. He noted Segue’s vision is to provide value to other software vendors in the quality and testing segment of ALM.
Although Segue was unwilling to name potential OEM partnerships, Gupta noted the existing relationship with Borland could become an OEM deal.
The relationship with Borland is already expanding, as Segue’s SilkPerformer 6.6 application load, stress and performance testing software will be integrated with the latest edition of Borland’s StarTeam software configuration management (SCM) platform at the end of the month.
SilkPerformer along with function testing suite SilkTest, meanwhile, will also be integrated with Borland’s JBuilder Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) development suite and CaliberRM requirements gathering software.
Our vision is to provide the quality underpinning SDO [Software Delivery Optimization, announced last week] that Borland is pushing out now, Gupta said.
