Maffei will take up the post in July. He will also act as president with responsibility for Oracle’s legal, human resources, manufacturing and distribution, and global real estate departments. He was Microsoft CFO until January 2000 when he became chairman and CEO of 360networks Corp, a struggling broadband provider serving the rural western US where he led a restructuring program to make it debt-free and free-cash-flow generating.
Oracle’s previous CFO, Harry You quit in March after eight months in the job to become CEO of consultant giant BearingPoint Inc.
