The companies’ partnership, announced last November, is zeroing in on users of Novell’s GroupWise suite with a mixed packaged of licensing incentives and migration tools to Windows 2003-based Microsoft software.
Customers with more than 1,000 seats are being offered Quest’s GroupWise Migrator at a 20% discount of the list price while Exchange Server 2003 will natively support migration tools for customers running GroupWise 6.5.x. Previously, just GroupWise 5.x and 4.1.x were supported.
Microsoft and Quest claim that since their partnership was launched, they have managed to migrate more than 1.5 million NetWare users to Windows Server 2003. Additionally, they claim more than 5.5 million users running Exchange Server 5.5 and Exchange Server 2000 have been moved to Exchange Server 2003.
Analyst The Yankee Group believes eight out of 10 businesses will move from NetWare to Windows between 2005 and 2005, while 70% of the remainder have indicated they will choose Ret Hat Enterprise Linux. Yankee surveyed 100 Novell customers.
