The Sunnyvale, California-based company was formed earlier this year to provide a subscription support service for Amanda, which originated at the University of Maryland and was first released under an open source license in 1991.

Zmanda emerged from stealth mode in May offering support for Amanda Enterprise Edition on Red Hat Inc and Novell Inc’s Linux distributions, and promising support for Windows and Solaris.

That has now been delivered, while the company has also added new features such as backup and restore security and support for OpenSSL.
