Atos Origin will manage 28,000 desktops across over 700 locations, offering a common office environment and access to all DCA applications. It will also provide a single point of contact for support across all services delivered over the infrastructure. Atos said that its direct share of the contract will be 200m pounds ($376m).

LogicaCMG was awarded a 150m pounds ($281m) share of the project to provide application development and support services over the next seven years. The final contracts are expected to be signed in mid-October.

Atos Origin suffered in the first half of the year when some large UK deals that it had expected to capture during the period ran into delays. The DCA contract award follows hot on the heels of Atos’ UK arm being named as the preferred supplier on big contracts with insurance company NFU Mutual and the Department of Health.
