Sungard Availability Services has launched a Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) model, which will deliver a range of software across the cloud.
Developed in partnership with networking firm Cisco, virtualisation specialists Citrix and the storage vendor NetApp, the service will come in several bands with differing availability guarantees.
Keith Tilley, EVP of global sales & customer services management at Sungard AS, said: "This service has been in high demand from our customer base, and they trust Sungard AS to deliver.

His colleague Mike Threlfall, European customer services and consulting director added that the increasing number of so-called "digital natives" in the workplace was changing the pressures on IT departments.
"Employees now expect to access vital data and key applications from any location or device," he said.
