ICTroom, a Dutch data centre firm, has signed a £7.7m contract to build and operate a modular data centre, dubbed IMD, for Belgian ICT provider Cegeka.
The data centre site, expected to open this June in Sittard-Geleen, south-east Netherlands, will have an initial IT load capacity of 750 kW with space for up to 160 racks.
ICTroom will construct and operate the Tier III data centre, which it claims will become one of Europe’s most efficient and environmentally friendly data centres.
In particular, the company’s IMD data centre modules should help reduce the cooling system’s energy consumption by to a factor of seven when compared to traditional cooling methods.
ICTroom added that the solution will also allow for a range of size, power density and tier levels to be built as they continue to support Cegeka’s developing business.
