OSIsoft joins Asyst Technology and Microsoft in their efforts to speed the adoption of Interface A in the semiconductor industry.
The move is in response to the need of access to real-time operational performance metrics to semiconductor manufacturers’ automation and process variation reduction efforts. The implementation of Interface A using Microsoft .NET aims to enable web-based applications, XML web services and the Asyst Equipment Information Bridge (EIB) software product, which provides direct access to real-time data from manufacturing equipment.
John McCallum, high tech industry manager for the manufacturing industry unit at Microsoft, explained: By working together and building on the Microsoft platform, OSIsoft and Asyst are delivering an Interface A solution that helps improve operational performance and addresses a critical industry need.
Michael Saucier, vice president of marketing, OSIsoft, added: By encouraging common interface within the complex semiconductor manufacturing environment, OSIsoft and Asyst can deliver a complete view across the fab floor, which will not only speed time-to-market, but ultimately minimize process variability and equipment downtime to help manufacturers achieve operational excellence.
