Ping is a privately held company that produces hundreds of thousands of golf clubs every year, with exports to 65 countries around the globe. The company is using the PTC Product Development System (PDS) to develop and produce its drivers, hybrids, putters, wedges and bags.

With PDS, Ping has improved the quality and performance of its golfing products, quintupled new product introductions to the market, and reduced the time to market of those new products by 62%.

We are in a constant battle for market share. Product life cycles in our industry are very short and the pressure to continuously innovate is high, said John Solheim, vice president of engineering at Ping. We chose PTC because its software enables us to expand our product development capacity, simultaneously explore multiple new designs, and refine our engineering strategies to improve efficiency with existing resources.

Mr Solheim also said that Ping is interested in exploring PTC’s new Arbortext publishing software as the company is looking to further decrease time to market for new products by optimizing its associated publishing processes.
