With hurricanes Frances, Ivan and Jeanne, the day of the hurricane and the day following showed the biggest declines in spam FrontBridge Technologies Inc, an email security service provider, said yesterday.
After Hurricane Frances, spam fell from 89% of total email processed to below 82%. Following Ivan, spam fell from 91% to 84%, and the day after Jeanne volumes dropped from 89% to 83%, FrontBridge reported.
The monthly peak was 91% of daily email, and the monthly average was 85%, three points up on July, FrontBridge said. The data was gleaned from the approximately 100 million emails FrontBridge processes every day.
