Financial advisors at Merrill will utilize a front-office system, which runs on an end-to-end Cisco switching and routing foundation, to interact with clients.
The software, supported by Cisco Remote Operations Services and Cisco Advanced Services, will aim to deliver Internet Protocol (IP) telephone hardware and robust security architecture to replace an existing PBX-based phone system. The technology is also expected to enable Merrill Lynch to strengthen its voice and data networks.
Merill Lynch has received IP telephony technology from Cisco since 2000, but last year the company elected to utilize Avaya equipment at its regional headquarters in Tokyo and its base in New Jersey. This new deal will see Cisco look after Merill Lynch operations across the US.
