The consortium, known as International Technology Alliance, will conduct research into the latest technology for secure wireless and sensor networks, covering four main areas, namely network theory, security, sensor information processing and delivery and planning and decision making.
ITA is made up of 25 organizations drawn from industry and academia. Alongside global IT services players IBM and LogicaCMG, other members of the group include Boeing, Honeywell, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Cambridge.
As well as participating in the research, IBM will provide project management and contract administration in both the US and the UK.
