As part of the alliance, San Jose, California-based NetIQ has exclusive rights to embed the operations management component of Infravio’s Ensemble web services management suite into its own AppManager Suite application monitoring and management suite.

By doing so, NetIQ is aiming to enable administrators to manage web services through the existing AppManager console. The first products featuring Infravio technology are scheduled to be available in the autumn and will be AppManager for Web Services .NET and AppManager for Web Services J2EE.

This alliance with Infravio is intended to eliminate the need for customers to integrate point product solutions for Web Services Management with an enterprise systems management solution, said David Pann, vice president of product management and marketing at NetIQ.

In exchange for the web services management technology, NetIQ is acting as the lead investor in Cupertino, California-based Infravio’s Series D Preferred financing round, which is currently being closed. NetIQ will join existing investors Walden International and Cyrstal Internet Ventures in the financing round. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Jeff Tonkel, president and CEO of Infravio, said: Infravio gains access to a broader customer base to fuel our growth while we drive market penetration of our SOA/Web Services Implementation Framework.

In addition to operations management, the Infravio SOA/Web Services Implementation Framework includes a Corporate Web Services Registry, used to catalogue, promote, authorize, configure and track web services and their use throughout the enterprise, as well as a Distributed Broker for web services security enforcement, data transformation, routing, transport brokering, and lifecycle management.
