MicroStrategy filed the suit against Business Objects back in October 2001. The Mclean, Virginia-based company alleges that some of Business Objects’ software products overstepped into MicroStrategy patents.

In June 2004 a US lower court deemed that Business Objects Broadcast Agent software did not infringe upon MicroStrategy’s US patent 6,260,050. But MicroStrategy subsequently took the ruling to an appeal.

Recently the same court gave MicroStrategy the go-ahead to pursue another litigation against Business Objects, which involves whether Business Objects caused former MicroStrategy employees to breach competition-related terms of employment. This particular case has been going on since October 2003.
