The law firm Cooley has opened its first European office in London, with a focus on technology and media.

Led by Justin Stock, formerly of Morrison & Foerster, the British office will take on 20 partners and 55 lawyers and other workers, and specialise in international disputes including mergers and acquisitions.

Joe Conroy, chief executive at Cooley, said: "Cooley plans to make a big impact in London. We have brought together partners who are the very best in their fields, and who share our values and approach to achieving success for our global client base."

"From our San Francisco and Silicon Valley roots, we have grown to 850 lawyers, solving complex business and litigation issues for the world’s most dynamic companies."

The London office’s intellectual property and litigation team cited the technical infrastructure, skilled workforce and "competitive tax regime" as reasons for the move.
