According to BT, the new contract covers 17 countries with 234 sites in the Asia-Pacific region. BASF can now access a harmonized network platform in all 80 connected countries based on the MPLS standard.
BASF is also using BT’s IP-based MPLS network to transmit voice calls and video data between many locations worldwide, partially using encryption for higher data security.
Marian-Joachim Scholtysik, who is responsible for networks and telecommunications at BASF Group, said: Thanks to our collaboration with BT, we only have to deal with one partner for all 80 countries. This not only guarantees uniform technical standards and processes at all sites, it does also substantially reduce the effort to manage the solution.
