The club streamed its recent pre-season friendly matches against FC Lucerne and Wisla Krakow live on the website, using Niagara. It will also webcast the match against Rangers FC to be held on August 2, 2008. The Rangers match will not be broadcast on television.

ViewCast, a developer of audio and video encoding communication products, provides encoder appliances including the Niagara Pro and portable Niagara GoStream, which are powered by the company’s Osprey video capture technology.

LFC has been a long time customer of ViewCast’s Osprey video capture cards for streaming applications. It is testing Niagara Pro to expand its broadcasting capabilities. The club has recently opened a new broadcasting centre in Liverpool.

Matthew Quinn, systems coordinator for the LFC, said: We’ve had great success with the Osprey cards, and now the Niagara Pro gives us the opportunity to jump to the next level in streaming video and deliver the highest-quality video from SDI source to our fans. Since the Niagara Pro is so easy to operate, our TV engineering staff can stream video without any special training, which keeps our operating costs down.
