According to CalAmp, the 882-EVDO is used to establish data or internet connectivity at 3G speeds and is targeted at a variety of applications including fail-over back-up for wired broadband connections, high-speed connectivity for Programmable Logic Controllers, ethernet web cameras and other ethernet devices.

The company claims that the 882-EVDO offers an integrated Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol server, port forwarding and port mapping capabilities providing wireless data connectivity through public cellular networks.

Anthony Lewis, vice president of the open development program at Verizon Wireless, said: CalAmp’s 882-EVDO on the Verizon Wireless network provides customers with a new choice for industrial wireless connectivity that takes advantage of high-speed data connectivity on the most reliable voice and data network in the country.
