UK-based ARC International, a provider of consumer intellectual property to semiconductor companies, has signed a multi-use, multi-year licence agreement with Israel-based N-trig that includes the ARC 600 and ARC 700 processors for use in N-trig’s DuoSense technology.

ARC said that its processors are incorporated in N-trig’s ASIC devices and provide control and signal processing functions for N-trig’s DuoSense pen and capacitive touch screen digitizer.

According to ARC, ARC cores can be configured and extended with optional features using correct-by-construction design methods that do not impact time to market. The ability to augment the standard RISC cores with XY DSP and Dual-MAC units that accelerate floating point operations is expected to provide the system architect the ability to craft the suitable RISC/DSP for the task.

Yaki Luzon, vice president of R&D and engineering at N-trig, said: Technology partners like ARC allow us to focus on driving the Hands-on computing experience. Our adoption of ARC cores for the next-generation of our products provides us with a platform for future development.

Akash Deshpande, chief technology officer of ARC International, said: We are excited to be working with N-trig whose Hands-on computing technology is driving the next generation of multi-touch computers. We pride ourselves on enabling our customers to build unique solutions with our IP that offers a competitive advantage without impacting their time to market.
