The US-based firm said Fiserv Mobile Money is powered by technology from New Zealand-based M-Com and provides support for SMS, WAP, and downloaded mobile applications, enabling consumers to enroll online and offline for mobile device, branch, ATM, contact center, or online channel services. It can also integrate with a variety of core banking systems, online banking systems, and electronic payments systems.

According to a survey conducted by MQA Research for Fiserv in April 2008, 75% of the surveyed consumers would prefer using mobile banking services, if offered. This has increased from 49% of consumers who expressed a willingness to try mobile banking services in a similar survey conducted in March 2006.

Fiserv said the application can be deployed as a hosted offering or can be run in-house. The in-house version is available now for the top 200 financial institutions, while the hosted version is expected by mid-2009.
