According to Tableau Software, Teradata’s new platform family spans the business, analytical and data warehouse architecture needs of the entire organization. Tableau now connects directly to the Teradata database that runs on the platform family, integrating data exploration and visualization to make analytics fast and easy for nearly anyone of any experience level.
Also, as part of this agreement, Tableau Software will provide software and expert resources to the Teradata University Network, an academic resource used by hundreds of universities to teach data warehousing, decision support/business intelligence and databases. The Network’s goal is to build an international community whose members share their ideas, experiences and resources with one another. Tableau, which originated as a Stanford University research project, has broad experience serving the higher education market. This includes customers such as Cornell, Yale and Jacksonville State universities.
Kevin Brown, vice president of partnerships and alliances at Tableau Software, said: This partnership brings together two companies that are making significant advancements in how knowledge workers can access, visualize and ultimately make decisions with their companies’ data. Together, Tableau and Teradata will make data-based decision-making easier, more visual and more efficient for our customers.
Randy Lea, vice president of product and services marketing at Teradata, said: The breadth and depth of data our Teradata customers analyze for competitive differentiation continues to grow and our partnership with Tableau is another exciting announcement that helps our customers gain even more insight and value. Tableau’s remarkable user interface puts the power of direct analysis and visualization in the hands of the hundreds or thousands of business people throughout a large organization.
