Creating the new subsidiary reflects its different focus from Seagate’s core disc drive and security homeland. It encompasses the products and services of companies recently acquired by Seagate in the data protection, retention and recovery space.

These include products from data backup and recovery firm EVault, acquired last year, MetaLINCS, producer of E-Discovery software and a managed service provider, and Seagate Recovery Services, formed from acquisition of ActionFront Data Recovery Labs in 2006.

“i365 provides protection, retention management and discovery solutions to companies that enable access to their *information 24x7x365. The new name represents a message of I for “information” and 365 for always-on, and the assurance that customers will have access to their information anywhere, anytime,” said Carolyn Crandall, director of operations, Worldwide channel.

“We grew 39% last year, which beat the market, so we feel we are focused to continue to grow quite aggressively,” added Crandall.
