According to Satyam, Airline xPress provides predefined business process flows, ready-made project life cycle components, templates and utilities for airline industry customers. It captures general, outstation, agents, and ICH bookings to prevent revenue leakage as well as distributes revenue streams into passenger, cargo, and miscellaneous sales categories. The solution also offers allocation of direct operating costs such as fuel and aircraft lease and expenses such as employee travel, vacation, and training.

The other features include settlement of inter-airline transactions, management of in-flight items, issues, and stocks, management of assets and their depreciation, recruitment management, learning initiatives, employee information and requisition monitoring and approvals for online procurement.

Airline xPress features predefined process flows, mapped on Oracle applications, which serve as a framework to integrate financial information from Oracle and non-Oracle applications. In addition, the solution meets key requirements for recording and reporting information, said Ravishankar P, assistant vice president at Satyam.

Earlier this week, Satyam’s competitor Tata Consultancy Services also launched a new set of solutions for the airline industry. Additionally, it is working on a new software management solution to monitor cabin crew for British Airways. According to TCS Travel and Hospitality division’s head G Raghavan, the airline sector spent $11-13 billion on technology in 2007 and the IT spend is expected to grow at 7-9% per year.
