The Herndon, Virginia-based company said it will take a standard SLES distribution and add its Virtuozzo operating system-level virtualization software to create a bundled offering that will be available through the SWsoft channel.
The combined offering will run on x86, x64 and Intel Itanium processor-based servers and will be available in the second quarter with SWsoft providing frontline support with the assistance of Novell if necessary.
SWsoft’s Virtuozzo software enables operating systems to be carved up into multiple virtual environments, and therefore differs from the Xen virtual machine technology included in SUSE Linux, which enables it to act as a host for virtual operating system environments.
