The new vertical will be aligned with its media- and entertainment-oriented segments. Additionally, Satyam is planning to secure deals from European soccer clubs for providing IT support to the game. It also plans to sign up top athletes for endorsing its operations.

Recently, the company announced that it will sponsor Fifa 2010 and 2014 soccer world cup tournaments. Furthermore, the company plans to recruit former sportspersons to familiarize techies with various sports and also to provide consultancy on the use of IT in sports.

According to DNA Money, Keshab Panda, head of Europe operations at Satyam, said: The company has already made business presentations to a host of premier league football clubs in Europe on IT implementations and use of technology in developing clubs and grooming players.

Satyam’s rival, Atos Origin is already the worldwide IT partner for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and will provide IT support for the Beijing 2008 Olympics and the subsequent London games.
